Delegation - Responsibility of the Nurse

Nurses in Home Care, Home Health and Hospice delegate to various levels of unlicensed assistive personnel (various in-home aide levels) who are valuable members of the health care team. Nurse delegation encompasses various components from verification of staff competency, policies and procedures, effective communication and beyond. The North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) provides guidance for nurse delegation. This session will focus on delegation concepts and the nurse’s scope of practice and responsibility in the area of delegation. This information is vital for nurses new to Home Care or seasoned nurses who need a refresher in delegation concepts.
